Guild Wars Variants

This is the main hub where you can find information about the different variants Realms Beyond has done within Guild Wars.

You may be asking yourself what a variant is; if so, here is a quick rundown: a variant is an intentionally handicapped character/team that is played for an increased challenge. After a while, games become too easy: the more you play and become familiar with a game, the more you know what to do and the less challenge the game represents. This is especially true with Guild Wars and even moreso with a certain skill called Ursan Blessing. While it's possible to ask/beg/threaten/whatever the devs to change the game so it's not as easy, there is another alternative: find your own way to play the game that will give you more of a challenge. Use all those skills that seem completely worthless. Walk around without any armor on. Use that starter weaponry to beat the bad guys senseless. Whatever it is you think will bring some challenge back into the game, that's what you should do.

• Seven Samurai - 7 Warriors fight through Cantha.
• Living off the Land - Only use what you pick up.
• Nudists - No armor allowed.
• The Solo Purist - One player against the game.
• The Half Wits - Half a skill bar, half your attributes.
• The Seven Assassins - Assassin skills only.
• The Noobs - Zero attributes.
• 'Tis Secondary - Secondary professions only.
• Ironman - Vanquishing with Res Sigs and Sealed Deck bars - no shrines.
• Barbarian Tribe - No upgrades, no juju.
• Monster Madness - Use monster skill bars.
• Feel the PaiN - No self-healing, no self-targetting.
• Never Again - Completely different skill bars for each meeting.
• The Underachievers - Items and professions, neither gets your best effort.
• Don't Talk to Strangers - Only talk to the people you're required to talk to.
• Everything I Need to Know... - Starter skills only.
• The Time Trials - How fast can you beat the game?
• Renaissance Wo/Man - One skill per attribute.
